You choose, window by window
Inside glass, outside glass and frames are separate choices, for regular windows and for picture windows and glass doors. Venetian and roller blinds can be added. Each choice has a set time, and that is what you are quoted for, so nobody can skip the frames you paid for or charge you for an outside they never reached.
Blinds are cleaned carefully, or not at all
Roller blinds are dusted or gently wiped. Venetian blinds are cleaned as fitted, and taken down only if they can be safely refitted. If a blind is so dirty that scrubbing would damage it, your provider will say so rather than ruin it.
The outside has clear rules, and they’re about safety
- Outside glass is cleaned on the ground floor, or on windows that open inwards (tilt-in included), so it can be reached safely from inside.
- Providers work from a 3-step ladder or a 2-metre extension pole, and no higher.
- Outside glass above the ground floor that doesn’t open inwards isn’t part of this service.
- Neither are windows bigger than 2 m × 1.5 m.
These rules are in Cleanifiq’s service standard, and they protect you as much as the provider: nobody is balancing on a ladder outside your second-floor window.
A streak-free finish is the standard. Scratches, etching and failed seals between double-glazed panes (the misty look) can’t be cleaned away, and a good provider will point them out rather than leave you wondering.

The price you accept covers the windows and sides you chose. If your provider finds more on the day, such as a window that wasn’t listed or paint splashes on a frame, they quote it before doing it.
If your provider finds more than you described, they send an additional payment request through the platform with a description and a price. You accept or decline it, and it expires after 1 hour. Decline it and they do what you booked, to the standard you booked. If something you selected isn’t there, you aren’t charged for it.

How much does window cleaning cost in Edinburgh?
Each window side, frame and blind has a set time for the level of cleaning you choose. Your provider’s own rate turns the total into a fixed price before you book. Providers also set a minimum call-out, so a small window job often costs the minimum: adding the blinds, or booking the windows with a house clean, makes the visit count.

The protection that comes with every booking
Your payment is held
You choose at checkout: pay a deposit (20% of the job, or the provider’s minimum call-out fee if that’s higher) or pay in full. If you pay a deposit, the balance is due by 7:30am on the day of the job; if it isn’t paid by then, the booking counts as cancelled. Your money goes to Cleanifiq, not the provider, and is released to them only after they’ve completed the job on the platform. There is no booking fee on top: the price you’re shown is the price you pay.
Something not right?
Tell us within 48 hours of the job, with photos or a short video of what isn’t right. Your provider comes back to put it right at no cost to you, and we hold their payment until it’s settled. If they can’t or won’t, you choose: the value of the unfinished items back as a refund or Cleanifiq credit, a new, smaller job for just those items with another provider (you see the price before confirming), or both.
If your provider cancels
If your provider cancels, you never pay a cancellation fee. You choose a replacement provider (you see their price first) or a full refund. If you rebook the same service for the same date, any same-day or next-day surcharge on the replacement is covered.

Window cleaning in an Edinburgh flat
Edinburgh’s older flats are known for tall sash windows, and that shapes both the price and what can be reached safely.
Tall sashes count as picture windows
In the New Town and across the older tenements a single sash pane can be big. Count large panes as picture windows when you book, and remember the limit: a window bigger than 2 m × 1.5 m is outside this service.
Outside glass above the ground floor
From upstairs, only windows that open inwards can be cleaned on the outside. If yours are traditional sashes that slide but don’t tilt in, book the inside glass and the frames only.
Inside glass with a house clean
Inside glass, frames and sills can also be added to a standard house clean, and house cleaning has far more providers in Edinburgh: 13 quoted for it in the six months to October 2026.

- Only if they open inwards, so they can be reached safely from inside. On the ground floor, outside glass is reached from a 3-step ladder or a 2 m pole. Higher exterior glass is outside this service; for a shop or office, ask for a commercial quote.
- Possibly only one: a single provider quoted for domestic window cleaning in Edinburgh in the six months to October 2026. - Before a provider can take bookings we check photo ID, proof of address and public liability insurance, plus a criminal record check (Basic Disclosure Scotland or equivalent) and right to work where it applies. For companies we check a director’s ID, the business address, public liability insurance and Companies House status. Documents with expiry dates are re-checked when they expire, and a new provider’s first three jobs are covered by Cleanifiq’s insurance while their own cover is verified. Every review on a provider’s profile comes from a booked, paid job. No check is perfect, so read the reviews and pick someone with a track record for your type of job.
- Yes, you can cancel your booking, but cancellation fees may apply depending on timing. More than 2 weeks before: full refund with no deductions. Between 2 weeks and 2 days before: a payment processing fee of 1.69%–5% (depending on payment method) is retained and the rest is refunded. Less than 2 days before (or failing to pay by 7:30 AM on cleaning day): your deposit is retained as a slot reservation fee. After the provider starts: you owe the minimum callout fee or work completed, whichever is greater.
